Treatment Productions were approached by the BBC to create large scale projections on the front facade of Buckingham Palace to accompany the Queen’s star-studded Diamond Jubilee concert. The event hosted some of the biggest names in music including Shirley Bassey, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Grace Jones, Madness, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard and Stevie Wonder.
The concert was broadcast live on the BBC and attracted more than 17 million viewers.
Treatment organised a highly accurate 3D laser scan of the front of the palace, which mapping technician Nils Pormann then used to make a 3D architectural model. Producer / Creative Director Sam Pattinson commissioned a team of designers and animators to create all the video content, working under the direction of Show Director Geoff Posner and Executive Producer Guy Freeman.
The D3 control system was used to provide the video playback, mapping the event, as well as the simulation and content testing in advance.
